The 2-year program offers three structured design studios, related support courses, and optional electives to meet the 52-credit hour requirement. During the second year of the program, students will develop a personal focus of study working individually with two faculty advisors (of their choosing). The faculty Chair and committee member will serve to guide the student\u2019s development of a thesis design project referred to as Project-in-Lieu-of-Thesis (PILOT). Student may also select a written thesis option. Students are asked to considered themes of interest during the first year and then develop that into a focused study during a 2-course sequence, over two semesters, and then completed in the final semester of the program. Students applying to the program will follow one of three curricular tracks, as described below, based on their academic qualifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-ast-global-color-8-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ae65bf472e1206d230a9cb0061fb6547\"><strong>Portfolio:<\/strong> A portfolio of work is required for admission M.Arch program. (<em>Note: a portfolio of work is <strong>not<\/strong> required for admission M.Arch program for students graduating from the B.Des program at UF with an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher. However, to be considered for scholarships and teaching assistant positions, a portfolio of work is required as part of the application process and must be submitted prior to the application deadline.<\/em>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-ast-global-color-8-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2b940d61dc78d4f569e44f146b77b15b\">The SoA Admissions Committee reviews all program applications and makes the final determination of acceptance and program status. When accepted into the Master of Architecture degree programs, students are assigned to one of the three curricular tracks and may be offered scholarships or teaching assistantship opportunities based on their standing and qualifications. Applicants will be notified of the terms of their acceptance by letter via email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\" class=\"stk-highlight\"><strong>Evaluating the content of a non-accredited degree: <\/strong>Of the three curricular tracks available, two (Track I and Track II) require certain accreditation criteria to be met in preparatory education experience. Admitted students who did not complete the B.Des program at UF will be asked to provide additional documentation for review by the Admissions Officer and Associate Director of Graduate Programs. The accreditation criteria to be evaluated are explained in detail <a href=\"https:\/\/dcp.ufl.edu\/architecture\/evaluating-the-content-of-a-non-accredited-degree\/\">on this page<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-ast-global-color-8-color has-text-color\" style=\"padding-top:0;padding-right:0;padding-bottom:0;padding-left:0\"><strong>The Master of Architecture Degree comprises three tracks:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-ast-global-color-8-color has-ast-global-color-4-background-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\"><strong>Track One<\/strong>&nbsp;(Advanced Program) is a 52-credit degree for students who\u2019ve completed a pre-professional degree like our Bachelor of Design. It is typically completed in two academic years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-ast-global-color-8-color has-ast-global-color-4-background-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\"><strong>Track Two<\/strong>&nbsp;(Second Professional Degree) is a 30-credit degree for students who\u2019ve completed an accredited professional degree. It is typically completed in one academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-ast-global-color-8-color has-ast-global-color-4-background-color has-text-color has-background\" style=\"padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\"><strong>Track Three&nbsp;<\/strong>(Core Program) is a 100-credit degree for students whose undergraduate degree is in a field other than architecture. The degree is delivered in a  blended delivery (online and face to face) format, utilizing hyflex technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-ast-global-color-8-color has-text-color\"><strong>JAXLAB<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-ast-global-color-8-color has-text-color\">The low residency program at JaxLab CityLab-Jacksonville is a self-funded distance education program that leads to a professional degree accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board&nbsp;(NAAB). The degree is delivered in a limited residency, blended delivery (online and face to face) format, utilizing hyflex technology. Forty-five percent of the program is delivered face-to-face.
