IND students gain professional experience during ProDay 2010
December 16, 2010
For interior design students, ProDay 2010 offered a unique opportunity for them to mingle with industry professionals.
The event drew interior designers from across the state of Florida to the UF campus to participate in a one-day event to enrich student learning and development. Senior and MID students had the opportunity to engage in one-on-one interviews with practitioners, and designers led animated panel discussions on issues relating to professionalism and portfolio development. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected from the portfolio reviews to provide critical feedback to the students and program and will be used as evidence in addressing state academic learning compacts.
Additionally, in a working lunch session with designers and faculty, dialogue centered on the inaugural design field experience program and interdisciplinary studio work.
ProDay 2010 was judged a success by both students and practitioners, including senior interior design student, Rebecca Nychyk.
“It was very helpful to receive feedback and perspective from outside professionals,” Nychyk said. “I feel that the day really energized us all to push further in our portfolios and design.”
